The public and consumers are advised to use caution when buying smartphone from the market by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
In a social media post, the PTA encouraged citizens to be aware of duplicate or cloned smartphone models on the market. The authorities emphasized that users should always buy phones from reputable vendors and check that the devices come with a valid warranty.

The authorities also advised consumers to choose smartphones that are packaged, to confirm that the phone’s IMEI number matches the box’s, and to look for the PTA stamp on the box.

To confirm their devices, customers are advised to use the DVS app, SMS their IMEI number to 8484, or go to the https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk website.
The PTA warned against investing in costly items that are being sold at extremely low costs or without a warranty.
